A lesson on wine & big cats!

wine tour: Who knew that South Africa was known for it's wine? Apparently it's long rainy and dry seasons make it ideal for vineyards in and around Cape Town and they have been doing so since 1659. On our stay we toured a few vineyards and learned a variety of things from understanding that 70% of your wine experience comes from it's smell, winemakers still debate over if cork or a plastic top are better to seal a bottle, and a wine glass should be held between your first three fingers on either hand. <---the lesson has been brought to you by the British tour guide at Groot Constantia. This estate and a former branch, Klein Constantia, are amongst the oldest in the world. Klein Constantia also just recently brought back their famous "Vin de Constance" which was enjoyed by none other than NAPOLEON, Frederick the Great & JANE AUSTIN who recommended it for "its healing powers on a dissapointed heart," in Sense and Sensability.




cheetah rescue: One vineyard featured a Cheetah rescue with a few other wildbird preserves- both of which you can pay to TOUCH! It also had a Disney's-Epcot-esq restaurant where every meat was available as well as beautiful tribal markings :)
